Dan Kubin Direct Drive
After many sleepless nights, and long walks with my dog, I believe I have made the most maintenance free, dummy proof, ergonomic, and efficient direct drive.
I have found a way to completely protect the bearing from accidental ink and sterilant contamination, which has been a major issue with other style direct drive flywheels I have used in the past.
These seem to have a little more thump and life than the other directs I have made.
I am using a stronger motor that can easily handle cartridges (though I don’t recommend cartridges for any machine as they add unnecessary stress to the motor and bearings)
Simple and to the point packer/whipper/stipple shader.
I have found I can even push up to a 14 liner with these, but still recommend a Sidewinder or Mojobox for large grouping liners.
These run best in the 4-5 volt range with plenty of torque!
Brass model weighs approx. 4 ounces., with the bulk of the weight being forward, and a lower center of gravity!
